A career for good

Fuel your passion for social good with a career at Charity Bank Australia.

Banking with a purpose

If you want your work to be part of something larger than banking, you are in the right place. We use savers’ money to lend to charities, community organisations and social enterprises across Australia — and that is the whole business, not a programme inside it.

We are a small team with hybrid working built around offices in Sydney and Melbourne, and a four-day week on full-time pay.

Current vacancies

There are no open roles right now. When a role opens we list it on this page with the position description, the closing date and the name of the hiring manager.

We would still like to hear from you. If your values line up with ours and you can see where you would fit, send us a short note and a CV through our contact page and we will keep it on file for the next round of hiring. Tell us the kind of work you are looking for rather than writing a general covering letter — it is far more useful to us.

Join a bank that shares your values

Charity Bank Australia is the savings and loan bank with a mission to use money for good. Savers entrust us with their deposits, and we lend that money to organisations with charitable and social purposes right across the country.

Everyone here can draw a line between their job and an organisation that got a building, a service or a team it could not otherwise have funded. That is why people stay.

Working at Charity Bank Australia

Your employment is covered by the National Employment Standards and the Fair Work Act, and we go beyond them where we can.

A four-day week

Full-time pay for a four-day week, available pro rata to part-time staff. Your day off is protected and treated like a weekend.

Hybrid working

Teams are based in Sydney and Melbourne and split their week between the office and home, with the pattern agreed in the team rather than imposed.

Superannuation and leave

Superannuation contributions with your choice of fund, annual and personal leave above the statutory minimum, and paid parental leave for every new parent.

Health and wellbeing

A confidential employee assistance program for you and your household, and time set aside for volunteering with an organisation you care about.

Learning

Study support and professional membership costs for the qualifications your role needs, and time in the working week to use them.

Workplace giving

Give through your pay to a charity of your choosing and we match what you give.

How we recruit

  1. Applications are reviewed against the essential criteria in the position description, with names and other identifying details hidden from the hiring panel.
  2. Shortlisted candidates meet the hiring manager and one other member of staff, and are told in advance what the conversation will cover.
  3. Most roles include a short practical exercise related to the work itself. We never ask for unpaid work that we would otherwise pay someone to do.
  4. We aim to come back to every applicant within two weeks of the closing date, with feedback for anyone we interviewed.

Tell us at any point if you need an adjustment to take part — to the application, the interview or a practical exercise. We will arrange it, and it plays no part in the assessment. You do not have to explain why.

Demographic questions are optional, separated from your application and used only to see whether our recruitment is reaching the communities we serve.

We are committed to reflecting the diversity of those communities and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people of every gender and sexuality. Selection is on merit; where candidates are otherwise equal, we will appoint the one who adds to that diversity.

Any personal information you send us is handled under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and our privacy policy, and is kept only for as long as it is useful to you.

Recruiters: thank you for thinking of us. We are not looking for agency support at the moment and are not able to take speculative candidate submissions.
