Crypto

Crypto Wallet

Your digital assets held beside your cash, on the same ledger, in each coin’s own smallest unit.

One statement. Cash in cents, Bitcoin in satoshis, Ethereum in wei.

The wallet is not a separate product bolted on. Each asset is an account on the same double-entry ledger as your AUD, kept as a whole number of its smallest unit so nothing is ever rounded. Balances are shown in AUD at an indicative price, and the crypto is never counted as money you can spend.

How it works

  1. Log in to online banking and open Wallet.
  2. See every asset you hold, its balance in the coin and its indicative value in AUD.
  3. Choose Receive to see the deposit address and network for an asset.
  4. Choose Send to withdraw to an external address. A new address waits before the first withdrawal, and the transfer needs your authenticator code.

Crypto is not a deposit

Crypto is not a deposit. Values can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in. Crypto assets are not covered by the Financial Claims Scheme. Digital currency exchange services are provided by a digital currency exchange provider registered with AUSTRAC. Nothing on this page is financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the AUD value keep changing?

The value is calculated from the current market price each time you look. The amount of the coin you hold does not change unless you buy, sell, swap or stake.

Can I send to any address?

Yes, on the asset’s own network. Check the address and network carefully: a transfer to the wrong network cannot be recovered.

Is my crypto covered by the Financial Claims Scheme?

No. The scheme protects eligible AUD deposits up to A$250,000 per account holder. Crypto assets are not deposits.
