Your eligible deposits with Charity Bank Australia Limited are protected up to a total of A$250,000 by the Financial Claims Scheme, the Australian Government’s deposit guarantee scheme. Interest will be paid gross, which means interest is paid to you without tax being deducted from it. Any tax due on the interest you earn is paid by you directly to the Australian Taxation Office. For more information please see the latest Government information, or visit the the ATO website .
You can access your savings by electronic transfer to your Nominated Account when you send us a withdrawal notification form signed in accordance with your mandate. As an additional security measure we will follow up receipt of the withdrawal notification form with a call back to an authorised signatory to ask for characters from the memorable word linked to your account.
Completed instructions must be received in line with cut off times set out in our Payment Timesdocument.
Within the funding period you may fund your account with one deposit or several from your nominated account. Subsequent payments are supported by electronic transfer from your nominated account.
Up to two for personal accounts.
Interest is calculated daily and added to your account quarterly following month end in March, June, September and December and on closure of your account. There is no bonus interest payable.
The interest rate is managed and may be altered in accordance with Section 9 Changes to interest rates of our Terms for personal savers (Ethical Easy Access Account).
You can manage your account by post and email or if registered via our mobile banking app. We can answer any questions directly, over the phone or via secure message if registered via our mobile banking app.

Are my savings protected by the Financial Claims Scheme?
Charity Bank Australia holds its own banking licence and is a member of the Financial Claims Scheme.
Yes. Your eligible deposits with Charity Bank Australia are protected up to the A$250,000 limit of the Financial Claims Scheme, the Australian Government’s deposit guarantee scheme. Any balance above that limit is not protected.
For joint accounts, eligible deposits are protected up to the A$250,000 limit for each account holder, making a total of A$500,000.

How do I make my first deposit into a new savings account?
Once we confirm by secure message that your account is open, you can fund it with one payment or several, by any of these methods.
- Electronic payment from your nominated account.
- Internal transfer of maturing funds, or of funds held in an existing Charity Bank Australia account.
Please quote your application reference number and surname as the payment reference, and make sure your bank passes the reference on, otherwise the payment may be returned to you without interest. You earn interest from the business day on which the payment reaches us.
